Character designs from Comics Land: Kolten and Rip the Sea-Bot!
Here are some slightly wonky photos of my new books, due out in March and April!
From the Stone Arch Website:
Comics Land welcome young readers into a world of funny and quirky adventures. Told in comic style, these stories feature easy-to-read text, follow common core curriculum standards, and include learning tools to help readers understand sequential art storytelling. Likeable characters and awesome art come together to make books that kids will want to read again and again.
Huzzah! I can now FINALLY talk about the awesome kid’s books I’ve been working on! For the last year, I’ve been drawing a set of graphic novels for 5-7 year olds with the absolutely awesome Stone Arch Books, who I met at the New York Comic Con way back in 2010. The series is called Comics Land and the books feature dinosaurs, robots, aliens and a whole lot of how-comics-work info for kids. The first two books, Dinosaurs For Breakfast and Snorkeling With Sea-Bots will be out at the beginning of March. I’m currently working on the second series of books which I also can’t wait to share as the stories are so much fun and feature monkeys, goats and a whole lot of beans! :P! Hopefully, I’ll be able to gate-crash Stone Arch’s booth at the San Diego Comic Con in July and help sell them! I’ll be blogging in more detail with artwork and character designs soon, but for now, here are the covers! :D
Very vague sneak peek of one of the kid’s books I’m drawing at the moment! :P

One of the kid’s books I’ve worked on, coming out early next year!
What four kid’s books look like in their raw paper form.
This weekend has been a productive one; I’m currently working on the first of a series of 4 kid’s books for an American publisher (I can’t say anymore than that for now but as soon as I can post and talk about it, I will!) and have been working on the second draft of roughs. My lightbox has seen a fair bit of action this weekend for re-drawing, re-formatting and tidying up the first pass roughs. What else is going on at the desk this week?

A rather exciting start to 2012! My zombie activity book/comic is now available for the Kindle! The rather awesome peeps at Zeta Comics are also getting the print version sorted as well as looking into making a colouring app! More news as it occurs! :D
This is what four kid’s books look like in paper. What a stack!
Itchy itchy…
For anyone who didn’t know, I illustrate children’s books. My love for drawing zombies has yet to meet up with that side of my work.
